Seussical, Jr.
Spring 2011
The Red Phoenix Theatre company had an amazing cast with which to launch its much anticipated A.L.I.V.E. program. The program is intended to enhance the performance skills of middle, high school, and early college-aged artists.

The premiere production of this program was Seussical, Jr. The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge: not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes his "kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.

Sweeney Todd: The School Edition
Fall 2011
The Red Phoenix Theatre Company enjoyed great success with the fall production of Sweeney Todd: The School Edition. This show was part of the A.L.I.V.E. educational program and included youth in middle school, high school, and early college. Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd tells the infamous tale of the "Demon Barber of Fleet Street":
After being falsely imprisoned for 15 years by the corrupt Judge Turpin, Todd returns to London in search of his family. His hopes are shattered when he meets up with Ms. Lovett, the owner of a meat pie shop and she tells him the unfortunate fate of his family. Todd then turns his focus to revenge against the Judge. His quest for blood soon expands to include the customers of his barber shop, while Ms. Lovett suddenly has the people of London lining up in droves with her mysterious new meat pie recipe. After filling their bellies with the delicious meat pies, many customers stop in at Todd's for a shave and are never heard from again

-Kaitlyn, 17 as “Mrs. Mayor” in Seussical, Jr

Working with Red Phoenix is loads of greatness. I've been working with the founders since before it was in existence, and they're some of the nicest, most talented and skilled people you can find. What you learn on and off the stage is useful and applicable, everyone is friendly and welcoming and the casting system is totally unbiased! The Red Phoenix family is one of the best!
-Jakob, 15 as “Horton” in Seussical, Jr

Red Phoenix has been my acting home for many years. Here I am able to do what I love and make life long friends in the process. You will be able to expand your talent and become part of a wonderful family too!
-Alyssa, 16 as “Sour Kangaroo” in Seussical, Jr

"Red Phoenix is a steady growing company that gets better with each production. Their methods are all inclusive and each show is extrememly fun for everyone involved. One of the things I love most about the staff is that they put you, the performer, before anything else. I have never felt more loved or safe in an environment where I also get to do what I love. Red Phoenix is the place to be!
-Travis, 17 as “Sweeney Todd” in Sweeney Todd

-Katie, 16 as “Lucy/Beggar” in Sweeney Todd

Sweeney Todd was an amazing and unforgettable experience. To me, it felt like the true start of my theater career because it was such a talented and more mature cast. We really came together during this show. Red Phoenix is a great company and I plan on staying with them for a long time. Everyone is absolutely amazing and brings their own flair into each thing they do.
-Mary Kate, 14 as Ensemble in Sweeney Todd

Not only has the Red Phoenix theater company given me lasting friendships, but it has helped me grow as an actress. They challenge us, setting high standards, pushing us to work hard to put on the best production we can. Because of Red Phoenix, I analyze the characters in which I am cast in more depth, showing me other aspects of my character that affect my portrayal of the character. The Red Phoenix "team" is my second family and is by far the best company I've worked with!
-Lydia, 15 as "Johanna" in Sweeney Todd

A few years back, I was diagnosed with depression, an anxiety disorder, and OCD. I was devastated at the news and one day, after searching the internet for theatre programs around the area, I stumbled upon Red Phoenix. A year and a half later, I'm thankfully still alive and healing every day and it's all thanks to Red Phoenix! I love you guys!

Les Miserables: The School Edition
Summer 2012
Red Phoenix Theatre Company was absolutely blown away by this production of Les Miserables!  We were excited to produce the show, but had no idea our cast would bring such an amazing performance to the stage.  This show sold out completely almost a week before opening at the 14th Street Playhouse, and we were forced to turn away ticket sales at the door!  We are so proud of our cast members and crew, as well as thankful to parents and volunteers!
This epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, petty thief Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes and honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father - violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man hopelessly in love with Valjean’s adopted daughter, does the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed.
The Red Phoenix Theatre Company blew me away with another fantastic show!! Les Miserables was the best experience I have ever had! I was pushed way outside my box! I became a completely new person that I never knew I could become with the help of the director/music director, the stage manager, the choreographer, my fellow cast mates, & especially the costume designers!! I can't wait to perform in another show with this amazing theatre company.
-Kaitlyn, 18 as "Madam Thenardier" in Les Miserables: School Edition

The Red Phoenix Theatre Company has become an extension of my family these young actors and actresses are the most talented individuals around. There is a passion for their art and they give it to you in every rehearsal and performance. The Directors connect with the performers on their level and push them to be not just a better actor but person. My husband Clark and I have grown to think of all of them as our own. I would encourage any young adult to get involved with this up and coming group. We will be around for years to come even when we run out of Korbschs ! or is it Korbi ?
-Patty K, Parent of 2 Cast Members and Costumer for Les Miserables: School Edition

Les Miserables has been one of the best show experiences I have ever had. Everyone involved was so passionate about the story and I really feel that we did justice to the ideas presented in Victor Hugo’s classic novel. The entire cast seemed to understand that the themes of the show were universal and that made performing the show such an amazing and memorable thing- you could really hear the people sing.
-Alex, 17 as "Grantaire" in Les Miserables: School Edition

"Red Phoenix is easily the best theatre company I've worked for, and it shows. Les Mis was an incredible experience, and a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not many people could say they've been apart of such an amazing show, much less kids who haven't even graduated yet. I am enthralled and so proud to be with a company like this, and this is the best show I've been in
-Delaney, 14 as Ensemble in Les Miserables: School Edition

The productions at the Red Phoenix Theatre Company are unlike anything I have ever experienced in my many years as a performer. Each show is just as impressive as the next and the quality backstage is just as fantastic as onstage. I am lucky and very thankful to have been a part of this popularly growing giant and I advise any growing performer to audition here
-Travis, 18 as "Jean Valjean" in Les Miserables: School Edition

My husband and I really could not come up with anything to say last night except , Wow! From the very first number, we were amazed by the talent, and it kept coming. Congratulations to the director, cast, and crew on an indescribable performance!
-Mandy C, Parent of a Cast Member in Les Miserables: School Edition

I am not a theater critic, but I really think this production of Les Mis is as good as any production I've seen at the Fox or even on Broadway. Eric, Stephanie and the rest of the crew, you are to be commended for a job well done. It amazes me that this show got put together in 3 weeks, but I kow you spent countless hours behind the scenes making it happen. To the cast, there are not enough words in the English language to describe how well you did or how good you are. I was both touched and blessed by your performance.
-Bill H, Parent of 2 Cast Members in Les Miserables: School Edition

Legally Blonde: The Musical
Fall 2012
Red Phoenix Theatre Company had such an amazing time with this show!  We were thrilled to produce our first full version of a Broadway show and are so thankful that we were able to be the premier theatrical production at the brand new Buford Theatre!  This was a sold out show and we are so thankful for everyone's efforts to make this such an amazing production!
Perennially perky Elle Woods is a girl who loves to shop for the latest all-pink outfits (and matching handbags, of course). But don't let this seemingly ditsy fashionista fool you; this sorority sister is smarter than she seems. Miss Woods comma Elle doesn't take 'no' for an answer, so when her boyfriend dumps her for someone 'more serious,' Elle sets out to win him back by putting down the credit card and hitting the books. Ready to revamp her image, Elle goes where no Delta Nu sorority girl has gone before: Harvard Law School! This fun and exciting show takes you from the sorority house to the halls of justice with Harvard's newest, blondest student: that daredevil in high heels, Elle Woods! Along the way, our heroine proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.
Legally Blonde was such an amazing experience for me. This was my second show with Red Phoenix Theatre Company, and it was certainly not a disappointment. I love working with them in every single aspect, and I love how personable the directors are. They're not only my directors, but my friends. Stephanie and Anna did such a fantastic job putting the show together. I really enjoy the professionalism of not only the directors, but the cast, especially considering that most of them are in high school. I got to play the kind of character I would never have seen myself playing, and I think it led to me growing a lot as a performer, especially in acting. This show forced me out of my comfort zone in the best way possible. I drove 2 hours to be a part of Legally Blonde, and I don't regret it at all. It proved to be one of the most rewarding performances and experiences of my life, and the cast became like a family to me. I can't wait to do another show with Red Phoenix!
--Carrie Moll, 18, as "Serena" in Legally Blonde: The Musical

After helping with a few shows on set building/painting, I was excited to be a part of the cast, as well as crew, in Legally Blonde: The Musical. Everyone really welcomed me into the fold with open arms. This company is truly like a family. But above everything else, everyone is a professional about what they do, and they all bring such positivity to every rehearsal and show. It's such an amazing group of people, and I'm blessed to have worked with them, and will continue to do so in the future.
-Scott McDonald, as "Pforzhiemer" and Crew Member in Legally Blonde: The Musical

Legally blonde was so great! It was such a fun upbeat show the audience couldn't help but love it.. I know I did! The cast was so talented and just added to our red Phoenix family.
-Taran Beasley, 14, as a Greek Chorus member in Legally Blonde: The Musical
The Little Mermaid, Jr
Spring 2013
The Red Phoenix Theatre Company was excited about the Spring 2013 production of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr and has an amazing time rehearsing and performing this fun show!  Little Mermaid, Jr was part of our educational program and our students had an absolute blast "Under the Sea"!
In a magical kingdom fathoms below, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl with the enchanting voice.
We also enjoyed a huge success with our Under the Sea Jamboree benefitting local charity, Bert's Big Adventure!  We're so glad that we were able to make this production be part of such an amazing organization.  The jamboree featured sneak peak performances, games, prizes, a photo booth, and tons more Disney magic for over 100 guests!
